On Bad Moms
It happens too many days a week to count; a mother, having just brushed aside a loose piece of their child's hair, weighted down by discarded backpacks, holding animal leashes or items for dinner or tiny colorful rainboots will smile and confide "I'm a bad mom".
Writing a New Chapter
There is only one choice. Like the saplings our Tracks class plant each year, like the children we raise, we must grow. We'll become a school that will safeguard a space of play, of creation, and of curiosity for children ages 2 through 8.
Dirt is Good
Dirt is good for you. That's the news of the day.But you know what is really good for you? Memories. The dirt is fleeting, but it holds forever in the memories of the best days ever. Standing around with some of the parents, we shared stories of our own camping adventures from when we were young.
On Being...Scared
Using the book as a guide, we can also see that simply acknowledging the fear and giving it room to breath would serve the scared child better than dismissing the fear with false reassurances. Try this on instead..."You are afraid. What information, tools, and materials will you need to build your wagon that will take you to the starry sky?" Or even better, "I will sit with you and this fear. Tell me more about it."
