The answer is...

An "air shooter." This is the construction that compelled me to begin collecting these photos. I would have NEVER guessed what this was, not just because it is a teacup filled with wood chips and flower bouquet stuffed through its handle, but also because it was being used in a pet family tower.

Sometimes I can see/hear/know exactly what they are doing during play and other times, not at all. And I love it when that happens. I have collected a set of photos that capture those special surprises when the children have given props and constructions they have found or made wonderful, and unexpected, meaning in the play.
